Taste the World Through the Lens of Black Culture
Join us for 4 weeks of culinary adventure! Your family will explore recipes, kitchen science experiments, and stories from across the African diaspora—from the Caribbean to West Africa to the American South. Cook along with short-form videos, discover cultural traditions, and dive into fun, hands-on activities each week.

This year, our classes are presented in a new flexible format:

  • There will be no physical kits for pickup or delivery this season.
  • Pre-recorded video lessons mean no need to log in at a specific time. Families can cook together when it works best for them.
  • Printable recipe cards and activity guides make it easy to shop for ingredients locally and follow along at home.
  • Weekly kitchen science experiments add extra excitement and learning beyond the recipes.
  • Cultural spotlights connect the dishes to their roots, showing the depth and richness of the African diaspora.

We’re thrilled to continue our partnership with the USDA and Rooted to bring the Youth Black Excellence Cooking Class to our community. Over the past three years, more than 500 students have joined us, and this updated format gives even more families the opportunity to experience the joy of cooking and culture together.

Sign up today and bring the flavors, history, and creativity of the African diaspora into your home!

There will be no physical kits for pickup or delivery this season. Provision lists will be provided for families to source ingredients.
